Thy Perfect Light

Thy Perfect Light is a play designed to be combined with music. Most of the songs are from the hymnal or in the public domain. This can serve as a Christmas pageant led by middle school or high school students.

Star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.
Are you lost?  Are you confused?
Unsure?  Stressed?  Frustrated?
Hurt?  Angry?  Sad?
I am.

Christ needs to change and renew me daily.
I often need to be reminded to look to the manger.
The perfect light is here to guide me and
I often close my eyes to this light trying to get along on my own.
Christ changes us.

It’s our human nature to try and resist,
but when we submit we find a joy and peace even in our struggles.
So, why do we continue to do things on our own?
Forgetfulness?  Pride?  Both?
Christ is here!

This we mustn’t forget, and yet we do.
I know I do.
I try to do much on my own
only to turn to Christ after all else has failed.
Our light, our guide.
He is shining ahead of us.
Dont ignore the light; follow it!
Christ is here for you.
Today we remember!
Today we celebrate!
Today we are changed!
Forever!
