Devotion: Come to My Rescue

Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue. Be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. (Psalm 31:2)

I’m drowning in a sea of paperwork. I’m not sure if this is where I’m supposed to be in ministry. Sarah’s mom died of cancer last week–what is my role in that? I told everyone I’d plan this trip to Mexico, but I don’t know where to even start! Billy told me he’s struggling with questions involving sexuality–am I to be the one who makes or breaks this boy’s future? What if I say the wrong thing? These burdens are real and difficult to contend with.
God knows that. David was dealing with that. How often one can forget that God is a rescuer. He’s one big lifeguard. If you cry out to this lifeguard, if you say something in prayer, if you’re shouting in frustration and anger, He hears and comes swiftly to your rescue. If you see someone drowning, introduce them quickly to our lifeguard or call out and intercede on their behalf. Our lives are not supposed to be as stressful as we make them. Let your lifeguard rescue. He’s done so before and He will continue to do so.
Father, rescue me. I’m not sure what to do or where to go sometimes. Satan’s trying his best to pull me away from you. You have saved me so many times before. I need you now. I love you. Amen.
